The Problem:
Install 4,500 feet of coated and lined steel carrier pipe for a sanitary ocean sewage outfall. Space limitations, ocean assist vessels and potential damage to coating and lining were major concerns.

The Solution:
The Permalok HDD connection solved the space limitation problem by eliminating field welding of the pipe string prior to placement. In addition, the versatility of the HDD connection allowed all 4,500 feet of the pipe to be installed from the drill rig side, eliminating the need for ocean support vessels and making coating and lining repairs due to welding a non-factor.
