Contractor: Westcon Microtunneling, Inc.
Pipe Size : 1,430 feet of 70" O. D. Permalok Steel Casing
1,580 feet of 51" O. D. Permalok Steel Casing

  The Problem:
Relocating two 1,586-foot long sewer lines under Los Angeles Harbor. Unexpected sandy conditions will delay the project for several months.

The Solution:
Westcon Microtunneling used Permalok Casing for relocating a 30" diameter sewer force main from 12 feet to 31 feet below the dredged main channel. The company also increased coverage for two 20" diameter sewer siphons from 10 feet to 19 feet about a mile north. The project was part of two 1,586 feet long sewer lines to be relocated under Los Angeles Harbor required for a $167 million channel deepening project. Permalok has provided 70" O. D. and 51" O. D. steel casing for the project.
